Click on the website above. Click “continue to interactive” in the upper right hand box of the page after you’ve read the intro-page. Play with the interactive simulator for a few minutes to get familiar with all the settings. Then use the simulator to answer the following questions DCN style:
1. What is the distance of the between the sun and Earth in July? What about in December? Why is this interesting?
2. What is the temperature and hours of daylight in Chicago in December? What is this called?
3. What is the temperature and hours of daylight in Chicago in July? What is this called?
4. How many hours of daylight is there in Chicago in March? What is this called?
5. How many hours of daylight is there in Chicago in September? What is this called?
6. What do you notice about the number of hours of daylight in Quito, Ecuador as you go through all of months? Explain why?
7. Change the tilt to 0 degrees. What happens to the temperatures and hours of daylight as you go through the months when the tilt is set at zero?
8. Compare the hours of daylight in Australia and Chicago in both the month of March and September. What do you notice?
