Asteroids, comets, and meteors computer activity
Activity # 1
Click on the link below, a Comet Simulator will pop up. Play around with the 4 controls to see how they affect the Comets and Planets. Click on the sideways Black and Yellow buttons in between the controls and the simulator. Change the Comet to the different comets.
SKETCH what the Comet looks like far away from the Sun and what it looks like near the sun.

Activity # 2
Click on the link below, a “Google Earth” map will pop up with Major craters marked with red marks. Find the “Meteor Crater” in Arizona, center it and zoom in as far as you can. Use the + button on the top left corner to zoom in. Sketch what you see in your journal. Find 3 other Craters of your choice.
Record their location in your notebook. Zoom in on them and sketch what you see (as best you can).

Click on the link below. Help the Stardust spacecraft capture comet dust and bring it back to Earth! Read the section under the game to get the information. Then play the game. Record in your notebook how you did in the game.

2. Comets: Click on Explore Co, Size Comparison and Notable Comets. List 4 facts that you thought were interesting or important (one from each
section).
